Camptotheca acuminata - Happy tree Camptotheca lowreyana
The Happy tree, Camptotheca acuminata, is a medium-sized deciduoustree native to central China, usually included in the tupelo family Nyssaceae, but sometimes included (with the tupelos) in the dogwood family Cornaceae.
An extract from the Happy tree is used as an anti-cancer treatment in China.
The name 'happy tree' is a direct translation of the Chinese name xi shu.
A second species, Camptotheca lowreyana, has been described recently (see Flora of China link below).

Camptotheca acuminata seeds were obtained from Jintang (30.72° N, 104.61° E), Sichuan Province, China in January 2002.
