It is one of the main cities in Suceava county, and has a very proud comunity. During Romania's evolution, Câmpulung has either played an important role, or has been forgotten. Today, the city still has to offer some marvelous landscapes, and sight-seeings. One of its most known attractions is Rarău, and Giumalău, the highest summits in the region. In ancient times, Campulung Moldovenesc represented the centre of a rural settlements communities and, at the same time, the centre of a pre-feudal type of political state.
In 1995, Campulung Moldovenesc was raised to the municipality rank.
The Campulung Moldovenesc town it's situated in low altitude between 600-700 meters, have a 14.155 hectares total area (whereupon 564 hectares is middle town area) and 20.041 inhabitants.
