Campus Club is one of the undergraduate eating clubs at Princeton University. Located on the corner of Washington Road and Prospect Avenue, Campus was founded in 1900 and was the first club to abandon the bicker process for selecting members in favor of a lottery, a process known as "sign-in." In 2003, partly due to pressure from its board of alumni, Campus Club reinstated bicker, becoming one of six selective clubs (out of eleven total clubs). Due to the unpopularity of bicker among its members, Campus Club returned to being a sign-in club in the spring of 2005. The majority of upperclassmen at Princeton University take their meals in one of eleven eating clubs, which are an amalgamation of dining halls and Greek-letter fraternities. ... For other Princetons, see Princeton. ... Unique to the eating clubs at Princeton University, the Bicker process somewhat resembles fraternity rushing, though without the overt hazing. ...
In the face of exceptionally low membership and resulting financial trouble, Campus Club plans to close in the fall of 2005.
Trivia
Campus Club's motto is "First on the Street, first in our hearts, last to go home," referring to its location as the first club along Prospect Avenue.
Members of the club are often known to place an umlaut over the "u" in "Campus" when writing the club's name.
