The Canadian Stage Company is the largest contemporary theatre company in Canada. It was founded in 1987 from the merger of the Toronto Free Theatre and Centre Stage, but dates back some 50 years. The slate begins with The Comedy of Errors in High Park June 27-Sept. 3, followed by John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men Oct. 16-Nov. 11 at the CanStage Bluma space, in a co-production with Theatre Calgary.

Canstage has just announced its upcoming 2005-2006 season which will include the Canadian premiere of last years Tony Award Best Play, I am my own wife, the first major revival in 30 years of the musical, Hair, and the World premiere of the new Ronnie Burketts puppet show, 10 days on Earth.
The new season at Canstage includes a nine-show lineup consisting of three World premieres, four Canadian premieres, one Toronto premiere, one Shakespeare play and one musical revival.
Apart from the regular subscription program, Canstage is planning to host in June 2005, a new theatre festival that aims to foster an exchange of ideas and creative process between theatre artists.
