Encyclopedia > Canada Winter Games

The Canada Games are a multi-sport event that occurs every two years in Canada. Every four years there is a Canada Winter Games, and every other four years is the Canada Summer Games. Athletes are strictly amateur only, and represent their province or territory. The first Canada Games was held in Quebec City, Quebec in 1967, Canada's Centennial.

This is the ninth Canada Games for Bard, who first participated as a track and field athlete in 1989, and most recently acted as chef de mission at the 2003 Bathurst-Campbellton Canada Winter Games.
Allain was a figure skating official at the 2003 Bathurst-Campbellton Canada Winter Games and the 1999 Corner Brook Canada Winter Games.
She was a member of Canada's national volleyball team from 1977 to 1985, and competed at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
