In 1974, Perón 's government nationalized Canal 13 along whith the other two private-owned stations of the nation's capital, supposedly with the aim of carrying away a european-style media policy, where television was monopolised (or almost) by the state.
Chilean television station Canal 13, which broadcasts the festival to 21 countries, is faced with the monumental challenge of coordinating a production and administration staff of 240 people and providing fast and flawlessly reliable connections to 150 international journalists throughout the week-long extravaganza.
Canal 13 must ensure that an effective and high-capacity network supports all communications between its headquarters in Santiago and the site of the festival (120 kilometers apart).
