Cannington is a small village located in Ontario, Canada in Brock Township, which sits in the Northern section of the Regional Municipality of Durham. It also holds the high school that serves the majority of Brock Township. Cannington is one of three towns in Brock Township, a thriving series of communities about 1.5 hours north of Toronto. It (the township) sits on Lake Scugog and the Trent-Severn Waterway, and contains three thriving communities, one of which is Cannington.


Cannington is home to the notable author Timothy Findley, who wrote one of his novels, "Stone Orchard", about his experiences in his farm on the outskirts of Cannington.


Cannington is also called home by many budding young talents, including a young person named Kevin George, who is juggling his scholastic achievment with the joy of residing in such a pleasant small town.


Until recently there were two public schools that served Cannington and the surrounding areas: Cannington Public School and H.W. Knight Public School which generally served the in-town children and the farming community respectively. The schools have recently been combined and now the different buildings house different grade levels. Planning has commenced on constructing a single school for the entire community.


Cannington has many club sports and leagues, including a Men's Hockey League, a Minor Hockey League, Softball Leagues, Hardball Leagues and a thriving Broomball League.


Cannington hosted its first inaugeral Dog Sled Races in 2004, and they were a huge success. Over 3,000 people were in attendance, quite an accomplishment for a town with a population that is under one thousand!


Cannington is also shamed by being the birthplace of intenationally renowned criminal Michael Aggett. His crimes against Bolivian Rebels are heinous, and involved the torture and execution of at least three innocent victims. He is currently detained in Guantanamo Bay, the American prison for offenders of such type.
