In November 2004, Cannon’s Creek in the City of Casey became Victoria’s second community to go Plastic Bag Free.
Cannons Creek was one of 10 towns and two markets to gain funding for the Plastic Bag Free Town Challenge, a partnership between, Planet Ark, EcoRecycle Victoria and Regional Waste Management Groups.
Cannons Creek used the funding to supply reusable bags to Cannons Creek residents, and to fund an education and promotional campaign.

Cannons in the USS Cairo exhibit were X-rayed Tuesday by a U.S. Army explosives team, but no conclusions were reached on whether they remain dangerous after more than a century on the river bottom and decades on display.
The Cannon is a double six-pounder, cast in one piece, with a three degree divergence from the parallel between the barrels.
The cannon was erected as a monument to Civil War veterans by the Grand Army of the Republic, a veterans organization for Union soldiers and sailors.
