Canton Road (廣東道) is a road linking the former west reclamation shore in Tsim Sha Tsui, Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok of Kowloon. The road was originally named as MacDonnell Road. To avoid confusion with MacDonnell Road on the Hong Kong Island, its name changed to Canton Road. The roads in the area were mainly named after cities of China and Vietnam. The translator of Canton Road misintrepreted Canton as Kwangtung (廣東) instead of the city of Canton (廣州). On March 7, 1834, a thirty-six square mile area bounded by Joy Road on the North, Van Born Road to the south, Hannan Road to the east and Napier Road to the west became known as Canton.
This is approximately a 22.6% increase from the June 1997 mid-decade census and approximately a 45.9% increase from the April 1990 census.
Canton is approximately 20 miles east of Ann Arbor, 35 miles west of Detroit and 50 miles north of Toledo, Ohio.
