Cao Fang, ch.曹芳, py. cáo fāng, wg. Ts'ao-Fang (between 231 and 233-274) was an emperor of the Kingdom of Wei. He retained the title King of Qi, ch. 齊王, py. qí wáng, wg. ch'i wang after desposed by Sima Shi (司马师). He was a grandson of Cao Zhang, who was in turn the second son of Cao Cao and consort Bian.
Cao himself wrote the screenplay for the cinema film of the same name and was awarded the 19th Golden Rooster Award in 1999.
Cao edits various magazines, takes part in and organises many conferences, contributes to the conception of school books and edits several anthologies.
His wife, FangCao, confirmed that she received a "charge letter" on 19 March 2005 notifying her that her husband had been formally charged with "attempting to subvert state power".
Fang added that her husband was due to be tried within the next two months.
But instead of releasing him when the two weeks were up, the police have now told his wife, FangCao, that he is in "criminal detention" in Bengbu’s main prison.
