The Cape Griffon or Cape Vulture (Gyps coprotheres) is a majestic species of bird endemic to southern Africa. They nest on cliffs and usually lay one egg per year.
The species is listed as "Vulnerable", the major problems it faces being poisoning, disturbance at breeding colonies and electrocution.
CapeGriffons are arguably the largest of all the African Vultures, being similar in size to the Lappet-Faced vulture.

Not only is the CapeGriffon persecuted by farmers, but the body parts of this culturally significant bird are commonly harvested for use in "muti," or witch-doctor medicine.
