It was announced on air on Monday May 14, 2007 that Capital Disney will closedown on June 29. The last presenter led show will be broadcast on June 1. For the remainder of the 28 days of Capital Disney, the station will play music, jingles and adverts, on June 29, the station will cease broadcasting. Capital Disney was a joint partnership between the Capital Radio Group (later GCap Media) and the Walt Disney Company. A statement on the Capital Disney website told that 'both parties have now agreed to pursue their interests individually.'

Fans of the radio station started the website www.SaveCapitalDisney.com to attempt to stop the site from closing down.
