Capitol South is a Washington Metro station in Washington, DC on the Blue and Orange Lines.


The station is located in Southeast Washington on 1st Street, with entrances at C Street and D Street. This is the nearest station to the US Capitol and the Library of Congress, so it is very popular with tourists. Service began on July 1, 1977.

Metro also connects directly to the airport, but is usually not convenient if you are carrying luggage, which can be cumbersome on the train and on Metro escalators.
