Encyclopedia > Captain Crook

Captain Crook is a fictional character who was used in marketing for McDonald's Restaurants from 1971. This character was a pirate and is similar in appearance to the famed Captain Hook. Like another McDonald's character, the Hamburglar, this villain spent his time trying to steal hamburgers from citizens of McDonaldland while avoiding being caught by Big Mac, the chief police officer of McDonaldland. Unlike the Hamburglar, Captain Crook used ships and waterways as means to escape being captured. Though he is called a captain, it is unclear if he actually had a crew on his ship. McDonalds Corporation (NYSE: MCD) is the worlds largest chain of fast-food restaurants. ... Captain James Hook is the villain of J. M. Barries Peter Pan. ... During the streamlining of the 80's and the 90's, this character was dropped, though he can still be seen in some restaurants as part of the decorations of the playgrounds.
