Captain Star is an animated children's TV series starring Richard E Grant as Captain Jim Star. The series takes place on a spaceship, The Boiling Hell, which has been sent on a mission to a deserted planet at the Ragged End Of The Universe. The ship's crew consists of the egocentric Captain Star, Dana Scully-esque science officer Scarlett, multi-headed engineer Jones and fishkeeping navigator Black. They were later joined by a robot, Jim-Bob-Bob.

Throughout the series, the characters await further orders from Mission Control. These orders never come, as the mission is simply a ploy to get rid of the obnoxious Captain Star.
