The Card Information Structure (CIS) is information stored on a PC card. The information contained in this area relateds to information about the formatting and organisation of the data on the card. The CIS also contains information about what type of card it is, what power supply options it supports, what power saving features it supports, the manufacturer, model number and so on. When a card is unrecognised it is frequently because the CIS information is either lost or damaged.
