Cardross (Càrdainn Ros in Gaelic) is a large village in Scotland, on the north side of the Firth of Clyde, roughly halfway between Dumbarton and Helensburgh. Cardross is in the historic geographical county of Dunbartonshire, but the modern political local authority of Argyll and Bute. History

King Robert the Bruce is often associated with Cardross in respect of his last years. He died at his manorial house in the Parish of Cardross in 1329, but the exact location is unknown. It is claimed that it was not where the present village lies, but near where Dalmoak Farm now stands, near the River Leven, south of the village of Renton. A. J.
