Carl Benjamin Boyer (April 28, 1906 - April 21, 1976) was a historian of mathematics. He wrote the books History of Analytic Geometry, History of the Calculus, A History of Mathematics, and The Rainbow: From Myth to Mathematics.


He married the former Marjorie Duncan Nice.


He died of a heart attack in New York.


The Carl B. Boyer Memorial Prize is awarded to the Columbia University undergraduate writing the best essay on any scientific or mathematical topic.
