Carl Newton Gunter, Jr. (October 16, 1938 - July 6, 1999) (D) was a member of the Louisiana State House of Representatives from 1972 till 1992. Gunter was born at Alexandria, Louisiana, to Carl N."Euddie" Gunter (June 23, 1916 - November 10, 1975)[1] and Gladys Slay Gunter (April 18, 1920 - ). His paternal grandparents were John Gunter (Jan. 31, 1886 - Jul. 26, 1963)[2] and Mary Hooper Gunter (May 21, 1895 - Jan. 6, 1976)[3]. Gunter was the oldest of five. His siblings are, John O. Gunter, Travis Gunter and a sister Gladys. The other brother Elton Wayne Gunter (Feb.12, 1946 - Feb.17, 1947),[4] died from a childhood illness.
