Carl Stephenson is an American hip hop and alternative rock record producer. Stephenson formed his musical education at church and school orchestra. His influences are Suzanne Ciani, Joanne Shenandoah, Coyote Oldman, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Bach, Vivaldi, and his musical family. His first gig started at Rap a Lot Records, helping mix projects with D.J. Ready Red, Prince Johnny C., and other talented musicians. He has co produced several hip hop artists such as the College Boyz, MC Skat Kat, as well as Alternative Folk Rock bands like the Papa Bear Band, The Young and Elderly Recycling Music Stand Band, and Beck's early coffee house independent music including songs such as Loser and Beercan. The band the Forest for the Trees, on Dreamworks records was conceived with friends who attended art college while he was attending community college. "Dream" is an eclectic work of multicultural diversity. Carl Stephenson is considered to be an artist whose music was before its time. One of his recent singles includes music from The Young and Elderly Recycling Music Stand Band. The song "I Like to Recycle," is one song out of a collection of songs regarding the environment. It is featured on a collaborative album with several famous artists. Carl Stephenson is working on several projects with several different artists and bands including The Papa Bear Band, Housewives On Prozac, RedBone, and an old college friend, Squeaky G of the College Boys. Carl is known for his collaborative endeavors and his altruistic nature. He is also working on a collaborative album to help fund projects for the The Tree Of Life Guardianship, a non-profit organization that aids in the conservation and preservation of indigenous cultures.
