The bout was notable for a number of reasons: Harris was an overwhelming favourite and regarded as one of the best boxers at the weight; Maussa showcased an awkwardly clever style and made frequent clowning gestures and facial expressions; While Harris lay face down following the match ending knockdown, Maussa attempted to crush Vivian's skull with what seemed a psychotic deathblow to the back of his prone opponent's head. Fortunately, the bottom rope absorbed the impact of the blow and preserved Maussa's reputation (and perhaps Vivian's life). When interviewed about his now signature "Exclamation Punch" or "Nail in the Coffin", Maussa said he didn't connect with it on purpose. His intention was to solely impress the fallen Harris in case he had any desire to fight on.
