History

Carlos Morales Troncoso was born on May 16, 1986 and is married to Luisa Alba de Morales, they have 4 children. He gained degrees in two disciplines; chemical engineering and sugar engineering from Louisiana State University, in 1982 he also was awarded a doctor honoris causa of humanities by Chicago State University. Political career

Troncoso is a member of the Dominican Liberation Party party. He was a member of the monetary board of the Dominican Republic prior to becoming vice president of the Dominican Republic in 1986 after winning his candidacy with Joaquín Balaguer who became president and continued in this role until 1994. Awards

Troncoso has won acclaim within his native country and from nations abroad. In 1982, he was named "Businessman of the year" by Asociación Interamericana de Hombres de Empresa, Inc. In 1982 he was named "man of the year" by the Dominican Chamber of Commerce of New York . He was named most distinguised graduate of the year in 1992 by Louisiana State University. He has been honored for his political work by China, Italy and Costa Rica.[2] In his home country, Troncoso has received Duarte, Sánchez and Mella and the Christopher Columbus Heraldry Award.[3]

Troncoso has authored books during his political career which includes "De lo Privado a lo Público" that focuses both on his work in the public and private sector. [3]
