Salcido started his career with Chivas de Guadalajara and made his debut in the Primera División de México on July 22, 2001 in a 1-1 draw against La Piedad. He would go on to play five half-seasons with Guadalajara and registering two goals in 105 matches. [1]. A popular sporting figure in Mexico, Salcido is a naturally gifted athlete that can play the ball with either foot. Even though he began his career as a forward, it is as a central left defender where he performs his best. In 2005, he played in the Confederations Cup in Germany, helping the Mexican national football team to a fourth place finish, where he appeared as a starter in all five matches. Salcido has been a starter and is one of the men of trust of Coach Ronald Koeman. He has played in the Dutch League and in the Champions League where PSV has had great accomplishments.
