Encyclopedia > Carme group

The Carme group is made up of moons of Jupiter which share similar orbits. Their semi-major axes range between 22.9 and 24.1 Gm, their inclinations between 164.9° and 165.5°, and their eccentricities between 0.23 and 0.27 (with one exception). Atmospheric characteristics Atmospheric pressure 70 kPa Hydrogen ~86% Helium ~14% Methane 0. ... In physics, an orbit is the path that an object makes, around another object, whilst under the influence of a source of centripetal force, such as gravity. ... In geometry, the term semi-major axis (also semimajor axis) is used to describe the dimensions of ellipses and hyperbolas. ... Pasiphaë group - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (150 words)
The Pasiphaë group is made up of moons of Jupiter which share similar orbits.
Their semi-major axes range between 22.8 and 24.1 Gm (the same range as the Carme group), their inclinations between 144.5° and 158.3°, and their eccentricities between 0.25 and 0.43.
Unlike the other two retrograde group (those of Ananke and Carme), this one is very dispersed in inclination.
