Carroll College opened its doors in 1910. The school was founded by John "Jack" Patrick Carroll the second Bishop of the Diocese of Helena. Originally called Mount St. Charles College in honor of St. Charles Borromeo, it graduated its first class in 1916. In 1932 the institution changed its name to Carroll College in honor of its founder. The first and largest building on campus is St. Charles Hall which lies on Capital Hill.
