Carstens Egeberg Borchgrevink (December 1, 1864 in Kristiana, Norway-1934 in Slimdal,Antarctica, ever. Although of Norwegian birth, Borchgrevink emigrated to Australia, where he was a lecturer in geography and natural history at the University of Sydney. Subsequently he returned to Norway.
In 1895, Borchgrevink built a hut on Antarctica; this was the first building on Antarctica, ever. As of 2003, the hut still existed, but was being destroyed by penguinguano.
He emigrated to Australia in 1888, and in 1894 he went south in a whaling vessel and at Cape Adare took part in the first landing on the continent of Antarctica.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Evelyn Borchgrevink of Everett, WA.
