Carthalo (? – c. 209 BC) was an officer in Hannibal's army during the Second Punic War. He led the Numidian cavalry in a successful skirmish against Rome. After the Battle of Cannae Hannibal sent Carthalo to Rome. Carthalo's mission was to try and get Rome to consider peace. At the same time he brought a delegation of Roman prisoners in the hopes of ransoming them. The new Roman dictator, M. Iunius Pera, sent a messenger to meet the delegation and tell them to leave by nightfall.
