The Casablanca Group was an organization of "progressive states" founded in 1961. It gathered Gamal Abdel-Nasser's Egypt, Ghana — led by Kwame Nkrumah, leading proponent of Pan-Africanism —, Sékou Touré's Guinea, Mali, Libya or Morocco for a short period — left-wing Moroccan prime minister Abdallah Ibrahim had just been dismissed. Fifth Field Artillery Group Unit History - North Africa (1745 words)
Upon the Groups arrival on the ERlCSSON on 25 January in the Casablanca area the 58th and 62nd Armored Field Artillery Battalions were assigned to the Group.
Group Headquarters and Headquarters Battery moved to the area on 16 March, followed by the 58th and the 17th.
On the 4th of May the Group was attached to the 34th Infantry Division, participating in a terrific barrage on the hills dominating the pass to Chouigui, a barrage designed to place a round every ten yards in an area 1000 yards wide and 1500 yards in depth for two hours.

Air Group 4 was reformed and transferred to the Pacific in July 1944 to fly from the USS Bunker Hill (CV-17) and the USS Essex (CV-9).
The Essex was launching an Air Group 4 strike group on the afternoon of November 25, 1944 when a Japanese kamikaze crashed into the flight deck.
The new Air Group 4 identifier on the tail of the planes was a large white T running the length of the tail fin.
