Analysis of the cases in this study supports the assertions by researchers (Umble and Cervero 1996; Waddell 1991) that continuing education is viewed as a benefit in improving knowledge, competence and performance, and practice outcomes, particularly in public protection, i.e., patient outcomes, client satisfaction and the public's perception of the profession.
