Cash Money Records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (602 words)
Cash Money Records is a successful hip hop music subsidiary of the Universal Motown Records Group, based out of New Orleans, Louisiana.
The name is derived from the 1991 film New Jack City, where the CMB or Cash Money Brothers was the name of the gang that Nino Brown led.
Cash Money's big break came in 1997 when the label's most popular artists, The Hot Boys caught the attention of Universal Records big shots, primarily Juvenile, whose Cash Money release Soulja Rags sold 611,000 copies independently.
