Cassandra Claire is an author of fanfiction from New York, particularly noted for her creation of The Very Secret Diaries, a series of satirical slash fiction stories written in the form of diary entries by various characters in the Lord of the Rings movies following the release of The Fellowship of the Ring. The Very Secret Diaries were widely read both within and outside of the fanfiction community, and were something of a brief internet fad. Claire wrote a handful more stories with the release of The Two Towers, but then abandoned the series. She also writes Harry Potter fanfiction, most prominently the highly pop-culture-referential Draco Trilogy. She is also heralded as the creator of the very popular leather-wearing Draco Malfoy.
