Casselman is a borough located in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 99.


Geography

Casselman is located at 39°53'9" North, 79°12'33" West (39.885828, -79.209148)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 0.5 km˛ (0.2 mi˛). 0.5 km˛ (0.2 mi˛) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 99 people, 40 households, and 33 families residing in the borough. The population density is 201.2/km˛ (513.3/mi˛). There are 46 housing units at an average density of 93.5/km˛ (238.5/mi˛). The racial makeup of the borough is 100.00% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 40 households out of which 37.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.0% are married couples living together, 7.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.5% are non-families. 15.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 2.67.


In the borough the population is spread out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.4 males.


The median income for a household in the borough is $30,000, and the median income for a family is $38,750. Males have a median income of $26,563 versus $41,250 for females. The per capita income for the borough is $13,543. 15.2% of the population and 14.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 9.1% of those under the age of 18 and 53.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
