Biography

Cassie gets her looks from her Filipino father and her African-American mother, she also has an older brother[1]. She was raised in a musical household as her mother Regina ( A Pfizer employee) is a pianist and her father plays trumpet[2].

At age of 14, Cassie began working as a model for the Wilhemina Agency in New York City. She appeared in ads for Delia's, Adidas, and Abercrombie & Fitch, Seventeen magazine. She also modeled for Missy Elliott's Respect ME Adidas clothing line campaign, and her modelling highlight was when she was on the prime Target billboard in Times Square, NY. Cassie attended the Interdistrict School for Arts And Communication junior high school, where she studied the arts: piano, flute, dance, composition, and voice. At ISAAC, she and two other students composed an original score for a half-hour stage production[3]. In 2004, she graduated from the preparatory Williams School on the Connecticut College campus in New London, CT. When she graduated high school, she was the only student in her class to announce that she was not going to college, but was moving to New York to make it on her own, in "real life".

Musical Career

In NY Cassie was modeling took some classes at the Broadway Dance Center. Producer Ryan Leslie began spotting her at clubs and parties in late 2004, and he was charmed by Cassie’s personality. She was finally introduced to Leslie by Sean “Diddy” Combs’ make-up artist, who had worked with Cassie on one of her modeling photo shoots.

Shortly after being introduced to music producer, Ryan Leslie, Cassie's mother asked Cassie to record a song for her as a birthday gift. Cassie approached Ryan and Ryan put wrote a duet for them called "Kiss Me". Ryan played "Kiss Me" for Tommy Mottola and he offered Cassie a management deal.

Cassie signed a deal with Ryan's NextSelection label to produce her debut album, and Ryan co wrote and produced Cassie’s first single “Me & U” " in 2005. In March 2006 Cassie signed with Diddy's record label Bad Boy Recordings.
