Catalyst is the current science-focused TV series which is made by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Launched in 2001, it replaced Quantum (TV Series), which ceased to be on Thursday, April 26 of the same year, and screens at 8:00 PM on Thursdays. The ABC or Australian Broadcasting Corporation is the national, public broadcaster in Australia. ...


The purpose of Catalyst is to broadcast stories in the field of science, and while it focuses on stories relevant to Australia; also features international content. While it is science-centric, it attempts to convey the stories in a way that is interesting and informative to everyone, often placing importance on the ethical, political, and scientific consequences of various scientific discoveries and research.
