Plot

Maddy, with help from her two best friends, Austin and Gus, rob the state-of-the-art bank in which her mother, Molly, works in order to get the money required to save her dying father, Tom, who is suffering the after-effects of a fall during school. During the heist, the kids overcome high-tech security systems, guard dogs, and a nasty Head of Security to get to a bank vault suspended 100ft off the ground. Maddy, who takes after her father with a love for climbing, was the one to make the 100ft climb while Gus looked on and Austin handled the security cameras from the Head of the Bank's office. She has to free-climb the last 20ft because her equipment gets stuck, but gets a burst of courage at the memory of her dad who did the same thing during the last 20ft of his climb to the summit of Mount Everest after his own equipment got caught. She makes the climb and hangs from the vault while trying to figure out what password her mom had set the code for. The password ends up being her own first name, "Madeline." However, this is not the only conflict in the story. Austin and Gus are both in love with Maddy and when Maddy kisses Austin on the cheek a couple of days before the robbery, Gus gets mad and jealous and refuses to help anymore, although they need him for the robbery.

So Maddy formulates a plan. She buys a necklace that says LOVE and gave each guy half of the LOVE necklace telling them that she likes him the most and that she has the other half. Before they get away with the money on go-karts, both the boys find out that she is lying, and get mad and leave her. Then they feel the guilt and come back. Catch That Kid (2004): Reviews (909 words)
Catch That Kid respects all of the requirements of the genre, and the heist itself is worthy of "Ocean's Eleven" (either one; take your pick).
While this Kid isn't up to "Spy Kids" standards, the good news is the film hews closer to the high-concept kids' movies of the 1980s than to all that Disney Channel goo that's been repackaged for the big screen lately.
The family at the center of "Catch" is likable and authentic, but the seriousness of their plight sits uneasily with the shoddily assembled escapist goof it generates.
Catch that Kid | ajc.com (487 words)
"Catch That Kid" is an American adaptation of the 2002 Danish movie "Klatretosen," but whatever charm or appeal it might have had has been lost in translation.
With a cast, script and quality more befitting a Disney cable sitcom than a feature release, "Catch That Kid" is the story of a group of eighth-graders who carry out a bank robbery with a toddler in tow.
While some parents may be alarmed at this premise, the kids' illegal act is mitigated by a morality-based motive: They're stealing the money for a parent's potentially life-saving surgery.
