Cathal Coughlan is an Irish singer songwriter, formerly of Microdisney, and Fatima Mansions. His lyrics focus on politics, the seamy side of relationships and the interplay between the two, utilizing surreal imagery and literary and historical references. Mary Coughlan was born in Donegal town and was educated at the Ursuline Convent in Sligo and at University College Dublin.
She is a daughter of the late Fianna Fáil politician Cathal Coughlan (TD 1983-1986) and a niece of the late Clement Coughlan (TD 1981-1983).
