Encyclopedia > Catherina McKiernan

Catherina McKiernan (born: November 30, 1969) Cornafean, County Cavan, Ireland is a marathon, 10,000 metre and cross country athlete.

Catherina was blighted by injury for a large part of 1999 and 2000 which stalled her progress and forced her to miss the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia but she helped commentate on the Games for Radio Telefís Éireann the state broadcaster for Ireland. However her disappointment was short lived as in November of 2000 she married to Damien O’Reilly.

Lack of fitness has Catherina to pull out of the 2004 Summer Olympics, in Athens, Greece but she vows to keep training to get back in shape for future marathon races.
