CAVE BOOKS, founded in 1981 as a non-profit publishing affiliate of the Cave Research Foundation (CRF), is the world’s largest publisher of books on caves, karst, and speleological research. To keep costs down and prices low, they depend entirely on a staff of volunteers—all cavers—and all dedicated to preserving the history of cave exploration and cave-related literature.

Anthony Cave Brown was born in Bath, attended Luton grammar school and did national service with the RAF before training as a reporter on newspapers in Luton and Bristol.
Cave Brown also wrote Treason in the Blood, in which he suggested that Kim Philby inherited a treason gene from his father, St John Philby, an idea that provoked much ridicule, not least for alleged inaccuracies.
