Cavendish is a town located in Windsor County, Vermont. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,470.

As of the census² of 2000, there are 1,470 people, 617 households, and 420 families residing in the town. The population density is 14.3/km² (37.1/mi²). There are 860 housing units at an average density of 8.4/km² (21.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.82% White, 0.07% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.82% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 1.02% from two or more races. 0.95% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
