Cawsand is a small village in Cornwall overlooking Plymouth Sound. Linked to Kingsand it was once on the border of Devon and Cornwall but the border has since been moved. Once a renowned smuggling centre the houses are now being bought up to use as holiday lets. Its seafront (the Bound) is about 3 houses long consisting of 2 houses and a hotel (the Cawsand Bay Hotel and Galleon Restaurant). The village is part of the estate of the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe and there are frequent bus and ferry services to the city of Plymouth. Although part of Cornwall it has a Plymouth post code and telephone dialling code. The area around Cawsand is known as the Rame Peninsula. The beaches of Cawsand on the left, next is the boundary between Cawsand and Kingsand and Kingsand beach is last are a favorite sailing desination, only an hour across Plymouth Sound.
