Cedar Creek is a village located in Cass County, Nebraska. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 396.


Geography

Cedar Creek is located at 41°2'24" North, 96°6'7" West (41.040098, -96.101979)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.8 km˛ (1.1 mi˛). 1.8 km˛ (0.7 mi˛) of it is land and 1.0 km˛ (0.4 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 35.19% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 396 people, 168 households, and 133 families residing in the village. The population density is 218.4/km˛ (566.1/mi˛). There are 292 housing units at an average density of 161.1/km˛ (417.5/mi˛). The racial makeup of the village is 98.74% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 1.01% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 168 households out of which 21.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.9% are married couples living together, 9.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.8% are non-families. 16.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.36 and the average family size is 2.63.


In the village the population is spread out with 18.2% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 23.0% from 25 to 44, 31.8% from 45 to 64, and 22.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 49 years. For every 100 females there are 87.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.5 males.


The median income for a household in the village is $44,479, and the median income for a family is $54,063. Males have a median income of $33,750 versus $25,000 for females. The per capita income for the village is $22,030. 5.9% of the population and 5.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.2% of those under the age of 18 and 5.1% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Lewis E. Jones was born in 1825 in Carnarvon, Wales, and settled in Cedar County, Nebraska, in 1858.
Couser came to Cedar County from Shelby County, Iowa, in 1899 and engaged in farming and cattle raising until 1917, when the family moved to South Dakota.
Cedar County, organized in 1857, was one of the earliest counties in the Nebraska Territory.
