The reclusive demigod, Cenarius, existed in the world for a very long time before his presence was even known. Dwelling within the sacred Moonglades of Mount Hyjal, Cenarius was approached by Malfurion Stormrage during the War of the Ancients. Malfurion begged Cenarius to help the Night Elves push back the invasion of the Burning Legion. He agreed to help, calling on the spirits of the enchanted forests, rallying an army which included his children, the dryads and the Keepers of the Grove, and ancient tree-men. He led them against the Legion in a dashing ground assault. Alongside the Night Elves, Cenarius and his army assaulted Azshara's temple in an attempt to shut down the Well of Eternity. The unstable vortex within the Well's depths finally exploded and ignited a catastrophic chain of events that would come to be known as the Great Sundering. Miraculously, Cenarius managed to survive along with Malfurion, and together, they led their survivors to establish a new home at Mount Hyjal. There, Cenarius lived, giving his wisdom to the Night Elf Druids and tending to the forestlands. Over time, the world began to heal from its grievous wounds. When the druids entered the Emerald Dream, Cenarius remained nearby. His sons kept close watch on the Night Elves' land and regularly helped the Sentinels maintain peace in the land. However, when the second invasion of the Burning Legion came forth, Cenarius once again rode to battle against the demons. However when he attacked the Warsong Clan, the Orcs were forced again to drink from the well containing Mannoroth's blood, giving them great power but corrupting them into red-skinned chaos Orcs. With his demon blood present in the Orcs of the Warsong clan, Mannoroth who was previously defeated in battle by Cenarius won this one - the blood gave Grom Hellscream enough power to take down Cenarius. Only Cenarius's corporeal self was killed however; his spiritual form still lives in the Emerald Dream, where he fights with Malfurion against the corruption.
