A nomadic race nearly as old as the Night Elves, the Tauren are attuned to nature and the spirits of the world, and have a largely shamanistic culture that stresses ancestor worship and the honored path of the hunter.
After the invasion of the Orc homeland of Durotar was repelled (as depicted in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne), Cairne, with the help of the Horde, united the tribes of Tauren and settled his weary people in a new homeland, the lush plains of Mulgore.
Since their inception in Warcraft III, Blizzard has always depicted the Tauren as having a strong alliance with the Horde, as a result of the agreement Thrall made with Cairne Bloodhoof, essentially in return for his help crushing the centaur.
Centaur appear as a creature with a horse body and legs with a humanoid torso, arms and head extending from the front part of where a horse neck and head would normally be placed.
The centaur were the offspring of Zaetar, a keeper of the grove and the eldest son of the demigod Cenarius, and the earth princess Theradras.
According to Flavor Lore in the Warcraft III Manual, and Manual of Monsters within the world of warcraft is a competing myth for existence of the centaur race which it was theorized that centaurs may have been the direct bastard offspring of Cenarius.
