Centenary was founded in 1867 by the United Methodist Church and offers undergraduate and graduate studies. There are currently 1,507 traditional undergraduate and graduate students, 692 students enrolled in the college's Center for Adult and Professional Studies (CAPS), and 270 part-time undergraduate students. Each full-time student receives a laptop computer that connects to the college's wireless campus network. Students are assigned a Faculty Advisor, a Peer Tutor, and a Learning Associate.


The College developed a Master Development Plan for the Hackettstown campus to address the needs for our students and provide a cultural resource for the surrounding northwest New Jersey region. The Master Development Plan also calls for additional classrooms, Lackland Student Center, a renovated and expanded Reeves Recreation Center, improved pathways, and more parking. Founders Hall opened in September 2006.

Athletics

Students can participate in 14 NCAA Division III intercollegiate sports. The school joined the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference for the 2007-08 season, after having been a member of the Skyline Conference. Campus

Centenary college consists (at this time) of four campuses. Hackettstown (main campus, undergraduate, traditional graduate), Parsippany (Main CAPS campus), Metro Park (CAPS campus), Long Valley Barn (Equestrian Center).


Hackettstown Campus

The Hackettstown campus is the main campus and location of most undergraduate classes, as well as housing for undergraduates. The campus consists of 17 buildings, 8 of which are Dorms.


Seay Building : The main administration building. most of the offices important to students are here. The business office, The registrar, Campus life, Admissions, the graduate office's, Nurses office, Heads of departments, Bookstore, Mail room, Tilly's cafe, Help Desk and Technology departments, Cafeteria, classrooms, WNTI and the Theatre. Characterized by its gold dome and clock tower, the Seay building is the most recognizable of all the campus buildings, and easily visible from the surrounding area.


Reeves Hall : Housing for freshman students only. Typically first year freshmen reside in this dorm, sometimes transfers will reside elsewhere but the dorm is primarily for first year students.


Smith Hall : International Dorm. While international students are welcome to live elsewhere on campus, the largest group often live here for at least one year.


Ferry Building : There are some offices located here, but mainly is a classroom building. The Career Center, and student activities have their offices here. The boiler room which provides the campus's heat is located on the back of this building.


Lotte Hall : One of the smaller dorms on campus.


Van Winkle Hall : The female only dorm on campus


Trevorrow Hall : The Science and fashion design building. Fashion classes take place here on the First and sometimes Third floor classrooms. The science department has lap classrooms on the second floor. (note: Equine Science classes can take place at Trevorrow or at the Equine Center)


Taylor Memorial Library : As it's name suggests, this is the library of the campus. Library staff have offices here, the print shop is located here, computers for public use, loaner laptops, a coffee bar, as well as a few classroom.


Smith Learning Center : Attached to the Taylor Memorial Library. The Academic Success Center is located here, as well as 4 classrooms.


Reeves Student Center : Show on most Centenary maps as two buildings, they are connected and attached. The student center is the main hub for athletics (non-equestrian) on campus. Rebuilt recently it holds, the athletics department, indoor swimming pool, Gym, athletic trainers.


Littell Tech Center : Holds 5 classrooms, as well as some offices.


Washabaugh Hall : Larger dorm on campus.


Anderson Hall : Larger dorm on campus.


Founders Hall : One of two newer campus housing. Dorm consists of apartments; 4 private sleeping rooms, two bathrooms, common area, kitchen with breakfast nook. Apartments are one gender (only girls to one apartment, only boys to another, but co-ed floors)


Bennett-Smith Hall : The other of the two newer dorm buildings. Much like Founders Hall. Most students agree that it is the premier and most wanted on campus housing.


Facilities Building : Facilities building.


The college has three parking lots on Hackettstown Campus; Staff/Faculty lot, Student parking, Visitor/Event parking. Students refer to lots view location on campus. The staff/faculty lot is referred to as "Anderson lot" or "Ando lot" and the Event/Visitor parking lot is typically referred to as the "Bennnett-Smith lot" or "Founders Lot"


Equestrian Center

Located in Long Valley, NJ. The Equestrian Center is a larger and beautiful equestrian facility. Several large paddocks, and outdoor eventing course, two indoor arenas and one outdoor arena.


Barns: 3 (larger min with two isles astride and 196' x 86' indoor arena), a smaller back barn, and a borders barn.


Arenas:

 1. 196' x 86' indoor arena, not heated, schooling and smaller lessons. 2. 220' x 100' indoor arena, heated, USET arena. Misting system, Quality sound system, state-of-art jumps, judge's booth and viewing stands. 3. 240' x 125' outdoor arena, lighted, all weather footing. 

The USET indoor arena also hosts two classrooms, a lounge area, a small cafe, and offices.


Technology

Currently all full time undergraduate students are offered laptop to use during their time as a student. Past laptops include; IBM R40, HP/Compaq nc6220, IBM R51, IBM R52. The newest model of laptop if the IBM R60, which will be given to the new incoming freshman class. Laptops are leased by the college and loaned to the students for personal use, the only laptops that the college bought outright were the IBM R40 model which is now out of circulation.


The wireless on campus is provided using a G network. Users of the wireless internet connect to SSID: Centenary . The only limits placed on the network of the college campus is file sharing programs. Peer to Peer programs (bittorrent, limewire, kazza)will not work and are prohibited.


The campus community also uses web client called Blackboard. The Blackboard systems allows for students to post papers, take tests and exams, as well and participate in out of classroom discussions.


The college also provides classroom and laptop support via the Help Desk. The help Desk's hours during the semeser are generally: Monday-Friday 8am to 8pm. They can vary during the "off season" and depending on what is going on around campus.
