Jacques de Larosière, President of the EBRD, Rudolf Mladek, General Director of CeskeDrahy, and His Excellency Karel Kühnl, Ambassador of Czech Republic to the United Kingdom, signed the agreements in London today.
CeskeDrahy was created in January 1993 when the former CSFR railway company Ceskoslovenske Drahy was split into CeskeDrahy and Zeleznice Slovenske Republiky, the Slovak railway company.
CeskeDrahy is undergoing a restructuring and transformation process to improve its efficiency and reduce its need for state operating subsidies.
Czech state-run rail operator Ceskedrahy said yesterday it raised cargo transport in the first half of the year 12.4 percent year-on-year to 41.87 million tonnes.
Ceskedrahy is the fifth largest rail cargo transporter in the EU.
Ceskedrahy also raised passenger transport to 91.77 million passengers in the first half, a growth of almost 2 million people year-on-year.
