Typical preparation
The main ingredients of chakka pradhaman are Chakka Varattiyathu and jaggerry. Chakka varattiyathu is made by boiling Chakka Chula with ghee and jaggerry or with sugar at a high temeperature until it becomes paste-like. The dish is usually prepared in a traditional vessel called uruli. Once this paste is ready, it can be kept for a long time without losing its taste. Metalic containers may damage the taste, thus it is usually keep in bharani, which is made of mud.
After completion, the chakka varattiyathu is then mixed with water and jaggerry. The mixture is boiled at a high temperature so that the jaggerry is dissolved in the water and paste. At the end, small pieces of Cocunut fried with ghee may be added into it.
