April 27, 2005 The European Tour officially announced an increase in the number of cards given to the ChallengeTour (ECT) at the end of the current season.
To facilitate this alteration, the number of Tour Cards available from the Final Qualifying Stage will be reduced from 35 and ties to 30 and ties from a field of 156, reduced from 168 in previous years.
Importantly however, the players who finish in 16th to 20th place on the ChallengeTour Rankings will not be precluded from participating in the Final Qualifying Stage in an attempt to potentially improve their ranking.
