Chamkanni is the name of a small Pathan tribe of Afghanistan. The Chamkannis residing in the western part of the Kurmana valley, are considered to be a distinct race. During the Tirah Campaign (1897-98) of the British Raj, the bands of rebellious Chamkannis were also attacked. The Pashtuns (also Pushtun, Pakhtun, or ethnic Afghan; in referring to the period of the British Raj or earlier, sometimes Pathan) are an ethnic/religious group of people, living primarily in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India who follow Pashtunwali, their indigenous religion. ...
