Though the title of first Bangla Band in epar Bangla(West Bengal in India) is usually given to Mohiner Ghoraguli, they came long before the popularisation of Bangla Bands, lone rangers in a hostile enviorment. But the recent flourishing of Bangla Bands in West Bengal was heralded by Chandrabindu, a name that both refers to the last charecter in Bengali Alphabet and to an immortal dialougue from the nonsense masterpiece, HaJaBaRaLa by Sukumar Ray. Chandrabindu, one of the biggest Bangla rock bands, even has band memorabilia, like greeting cards conceptualised by the musicians and illustrated by the lead singer.
Now it has six bands playing seven nights a week, and is generally considered the hangout place.
It would be great if you write about the band profiles.
I'm sorry, but I myself know very little about the old band (though I remember winning points at a quiz by identifying a song as have been sung by MG).
If you have it then can you send it to me? You are also welcome to contribute to the Chandrabindu article.
