At the end of World War II, several Kwans arose. They were Chung Do Kwan, Han Moo Kwan, Oh Do Kwan, Moo Duk Kwan, Yun Moo Kwan (Jidokwan), Chang Moo Kwan, Jung Do Kwan, and Song Moo Kwan. In the late 1950's, these Kwans united under the name Tae Soo Do. Though all of the Kwans united and formed the Kukkiwon, and their curriculum today follows Kukkiwon standards, schools affiliated with each kwans contain slight variations in their techniques. These variations may be completly unperceptable to those who do not study Taekwondo, but they can become obvious to students who go from training at a school affilated with one Kwan to one affiliated with a different Kwan. Variations in the application of blocks, kicks, and various hand techniques are some things where variations are noticable.
